The Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame is a grateful recipient of funds from the Friends of Hawaii Charities, Inc., the charitable arm of the Sony Open. These funds have enabled 3 classes in 2 elementary schools in at-risk areas to participate in our E Mele Kākou music curriculum for the fall semester 2015. This program teaches the music of Nā Lani ʻEhā as well as bel canto singing, Hawaiian history and culture, culminating in a performance with the Royal Hawaiian Band at ʻIolani Palace. E Mele Kākou fills a void for many schools which have had to reduce or eliminate music education. The elementary schools who received funding were Kaʻiulani Elem. and Kalihi Elem. Schools. We gratefully acknowledge this grant from the Friends of Hawaii Charities, Inc.
